John James Revealed: As SCOTUS Affirms Protections for Women’s Health, John James’ Rigid Views Are Out of Touch with Michigan

James “Okay With” Overturning Roe v. Wade, Opposes Exceptions Even in Cases of Rape and Incest

Today, the Supreme Court moved to strike down a law that would have made it more difficult for women to access reproductive health care. But failed politician John James has confirmed that his rigid views on women’s health care would include putting uncompromising restrictions on the relationship between a woman and her doctor – promising that he “will not stop fighting until we end abortion.”

James has shown he would stand against the Supreme Court’s decision, and has previously pledged to oppose any judicial nominee who didn’t “openly call for abortion to be outlawed,” even in cases of rape and incest. He’s also called abortion “genocide” and has been endorsed by and received thousands of dollars in support of his campaign from the Family Research Council PAC and Susan B. Anthony List PAC, two groups defined by strict opposition to choice.

“Michiganders deserve a leader who will defend a woman’s right to choose and fight for access to safe and affordable health care. But John James’ rigid views make clear he thinks Washington Republicans know better than Michigan women and their own doctors,” said Michigan Democratic spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “James’ uncompromising views on women’s health are simply out-of-step with Michigan voters.”

The Michigan Democratic Party launched to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. For the first year of his campaign, James was largely in hiding from Michigan press and voters to try to paper over his out-of-touch record, and has only come out of hiding after facing scrutiny from Michiganders.

John James took nearly $2 million in tax breaks on the condition that he would create 108 jobs — instead, he cut 32 Michigan jobs. Why did John James break his promise and lie to Michiganders?
