John James Revealed: As Unemployment Remains High in Michigan, James Refuses to Break From Trump to Protect Health Care

New reports show that unemployment claims remain at “historically high levels” and Michiganders continue to struggle as nearly 22,000 workers filed for unemployment last week.

Yet failed politician John James has refused to break from Trump even as he blocks a special Affordable Care Act open enrollment period, making it harder for recently unemployed people to get health care, and refuses to oppose the Trump-GOP led lawsuit that would dismantle the health care law that protects 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions. James’ silence proves that he will stay true to his word to “work [his] tail off” to remove the ACA.

“John James continues to put politics ahead of Michigan families as he refuses to break his ‘2,000% support for Trump and protect Michiganders’ health care in the middle of a pandemic,” said Michigan Democratic spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “James needs to explain to Michigan families why he won’t stand up for them to get quality, affordable health care at a time when they need it most.”

The Michigan Democratic Party launched to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. For the first year of his campaign, James was largely in hiding from Michigan press and voters to try to paper over his out-of-touch record, and has only come out of hiding after facing scrutiny from Michiganders.

John James took nearly $2 million in tax breaks on the condition that he would create 108 jobs — instead, he cut 32 Michigan jobs. Why did John James break his promise and lie to Michiganders?
