John James Revealed: Failed Politician Caught Trying to Delete “2000%” Support of Trump Now Caught Changing Tone in “Private Meeting”

James Misleads Michiganders in Leaked Recording About His Willingness to Stand Up to Trump, Washington Special Interests

A new report from POLITICO details how failed politician John James was caught in a “private meeting” changing his tone on President Trump, who he’s publicly pledged to support “2000%.” James has touted Trump’s support and broke his nearly year-long refusal to talk to Michigan press to praise Trump’s coronavirus response – but behind closed doors, James is trying to put distance between himself and the unpopular president. The episode, like his attempt to delete hundreds of videos after his last failed Senate race, shows how he’s “trying to have it both ways.”

“A failed politician who says one thing in public and another behind closed doors will continue to be a failed politician,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “This is exactly why Michiganders do not trust John James and why he’s been in hiding, waiting 335 days before doing an interview with a Michigan TV station and still refusing to answer questions from Michigan newspapers for over 230 days. ”

Here are the facts James did not share in his behind-closed-door meeting:

“2000%” Support for Trump. James infamously declared his unwavering support for the president and his agenda in a video – one of hundreds he was caught trying to erase after his last losing election. Take a look:

Days Ago At CPAC, James Touted the “Support of the President.” Less than two weeks ago, James touted Trump’s support in an interview with CPAC Live: “We have… the support of the President, who recently tweeted about me a couple Saturdays ago.”

James Praised Trump’s Failed Coronavirus Response. James broke his nearly year-long silence of hiding from Michigan TV stations this week to praise Trump’s botched pandemic response which has hit Michigan disproportionately hard.

The report also details how James has consistently trailed U.S. Senator Gary Peters in his “uphill campaign,” that “Trump advisers regard Michigan as a particular trouble spot,” and that the president’s team has been “rankled” by the James campaign.

The Michigan Democratic Party launched to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. Since announcing he’d run again, just over six months after his last failed bid, James has been hiding from Michigan voters and refusing to answer questions from Michigan media.
