John James Revealed: James Silent as McConnell, Republicans Allies Push To Cut Unemployment Relief

Failed politician John James’ Washington allies let emergency unemployment funding expire last week after months of failing to act. Now, they’re continuing to prove that they don’t care about Michigan families, as they work to slash supplemental unemployment relief from $600 per week down to $200 per a week, and ultimately plan to reduce the amount of benefits jobless people are receiving by an average of 44%.

But John James is yet again in hiding and refusing to oppose Mitch McConnell and his party’s agenda which will leave unemployed Michiganders out to dry. Since the pandemic, over 2 million Michiganders have filed for unemployment.

“John James’ silence as his Republican allies peddle a plan that cruelly slashes relief for unemployed Michiganders, after months of dragging their feet, makes clear that he’d be a rubber stamp for Mitch McConnell’s toxic agenda which leaves Michigan behind,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Elena Kuhn.

The Michigan Democratic Party launched to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. For the first year of his campaign, James was largely in hiding from Michigan press and voters to try to paper over his out-of-touch record, and has only come out of hiding after facing scrutiny from Michiganders.
