John James Revealed: John James Continues To Be Silent On Key Issues Including Coronavirus

It’s been 292 days since James last spoke to MI TV, 185 days since answering a question from MI print media, 97 days since appearing at a public event

Failed Senate candidate John James continues to be silent on key issues that matter to Michiganders including the ongoing public health crisis, despite its rapid spread throughout Michigan. New reporting shows James has declined to comment on any coronavirus proposals to address the public health and economic crisis.

John James, had not as of Monday afternoon made any public comment or statement on the package being negotiated in Washington, D.C. A message left with the James campaign Monday for comment on the proposal was not immediately returned. [Gongwer, March 24, 2020]

James ducking questions and hiding his positions is just the latest from a candidate who has continually refused to speak to voters. James has spent the last nine months of his campaign refusing to be transparent on his positions – dodging Michigan TV for 292 days, questions from MI print media for 185 days, and the public for 97 days. Instead, James cleared his calendar to criss-cross the country for out-of-state fundraisers.

“In times of crisis we deserve transparency from our leaders. John James’ complete refusal to tell Michiganders his positions on responding to a public health emergency raises serious concerns about his ability and preparedness to lead our state,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Elena Kuhn.

The Michigan Democratic Party launched to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. Since announcing he’d run again, just over six months after his last failed bid, James has been hiding from Michigan voters and refusing to answer questions from Michigan media.
