John James Revealed: John James Fails to Stand Up for Michiganders’ Health Care As State Faces Historic Unemployment

As “jobs picture in Michigan is beginning to look more bleak” John James won’t stand up for workers’ health care and protections for pre-existing conditions

Nearly 17,000 Michiganders filed for unemployment last week, as the Great Lakes state continues to be hit hard by the ongoing health and economic crisis. But failed politician John John James still won’t break with Trump to stand up for Michiganders – even as many lose their health care coverage as a result of losing their job.

Instead James is standing by Trump as he slashes expanded unemployment benefits, works to gut funding for Social Security and Medicare and pushes a lawsuit to overturn the law which protects 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions.

And James has said in his own words the ACA is a “monstrosity” and he’d “work [his] tail off” to remove it – even as he has no plan to protect people with pre-existing conditions.

“John James is ‘all for’ the Trump agenda as he works to rip away Michiganders’ health care while working families are facing historic unemployment,” said Michigan Democratic spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “James continues to show that he’s more focused on standing with Washington Republicans, even if it hurts Michiganders and threatens their health and economic security.”

The Michigan Democratic Party launched to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. For the first year of his campaign, James was largely in hiding from Michigan press and voters to try to paper over his out-of-touch record, and has only come out of hiding after facing scrutiny from Michiganders.
