Trump-GOP lawsuit would strip away protections for pre-existing conditions
Last night, the Trump administration filed written briefs in their lawsuit to take away Michiganders’ health care amid a pandemic and recession – and as new reports show that nearly half a million people turned to the ACA in April and May.
But even as 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions could lose health care protections within a year, failed politician John James is siding with Trump, not Michigan. James has made his support for overturning the ACA clear, calling the law a “monstrosity” saying he will “go and work [his] tail off” to remove it. And he’s standing by the President “2000%” even as COVID-19 could be considered a pre-existing condition.
“John James said the ACA is a ‘monstrosity’ and should be removed, and has stood by as Trump doubles down on his lawsuit to dismantle the health care law that protects 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions. James has made clear he’ll simply be a rubber stamp to the disastrous Trump-GOP agenda to overturn the ACA,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Elean Kuhn.
The Michigan Democratic Party launched JohnJamesRevealed.com to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. For the first year of his campaign, James was largely in hiding from Michigan press and voters to try to paper over his out-of-touch record, and has only come out of hiding after facing scrutiny from Michiganders.
