John James Revealed: John James Stands With Trump As Republicans File Briefs In Lawsuit to Take Away Michiganders’ Health Care

James is “2,000%” with Trump in his crusade to dismantle health care, vowing to remove law that protects 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions

Today, Republicans are filing legal briefs in their lawsuit that could overturn the Affordable Care Act within a year. Failed politician John James has refused to break from Trump and Washington Republicans as they work to take away Michiganders’ health care in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

James has made his support for rolling back health care clear. He’s silently stood by the President as he blocks a special open enrollment period to make it easier for the more than 2.2 million Michiganders who have filed for unemployment to get health care, and as Republicans actively work to overturn the ACA in the courts. James has called the law that protects 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions “a monstrosity” and promised to “go and work [his] tail off” to remove it.

“John James’ refusal to stand up to his party as they work to overturn the ACA in the middle of a pandemic confirms that he cares more about siding with Trump than protecting Michiganders’ quality, affordable health coverage,” said Michigan Democratic spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Health care is on the ballot in November, and James has shown that he can’t be trusted to do what’s right for Michigan.”

The Michigan Democratic Party launched to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. For the first year of his campaign, James was largely in hiding from  Michigan press and voters  to try to paper over his out-of-touch record, and has only come out of hiding after facing scrutiny from Michiganders.
