John James Revealed: On Anniversary of Uncompromising Comments on Women’s Health Care, Reminder James is Out-of-Step with Michigan

This week marks the anniversary of some of James’ most uncompromising views on women’s health care that confirmed his extreme policy positions are out of step with Michigan, including: calling abortion “genocide,” saying he “believes life begins at conception” and that he’s “against Roe v. Wade.”

James has since gone as far to oppose exceptions in cases of rape and incest, and has even refused to support exceptions for saving a mother’s life. Further, he is endorsed by leading anti-choice groups including Susan B. Anthony List, Family Research Council and Right To Life who have also funneled thousands to his campaign. Even worse, James has pledged to oppose any judicial nominee who didn’t “openly call for abortion to be outlawed.”

“John James’ rigid views on women’s health care and choice proves that he thinks Washington Republicans know better than Michigan women and their own doctors,” said Michigan Democratic Spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “James has proven time and again that his positions on health care are out of touch and wrong for Michiganders.”

The Michigan Democratic Party launched to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. Since announcing he’d run again, just over six months after his last failed bid, James has been hiding from Michigan voters and refusing to answer questions from Michigan media.
