James’ top donor supports wrong-for-Michigan agenda including repealing the ACA and rolling back funding for Medicare and Social Security
Failed politician John James is one of Dick Uihlein’s hand-picked candidates this cycle – and the GOP mega-donor is making another $1 million investment to prop up James’ absent campaign on the airwaves, which brings his spending to support James to over $2 million.
The Illinois billionaire and his super PACs support an extreme, far-right agenda including backing the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which protects 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions, and blocking guaranteed funding for programs like Social Security and Medicare, which millions of Michiganders rely on.
James has made clear he’s aligned with Uihlein’s toxic agenda – vowing to overturn the health care law and opposing guaranteed funding for programs like Social Security and Medicare, saying “there should be no such thing as mandatory spending.”
“John James has been out-of-sight from Michigan, but his outsized support from out-of-touch GOP mega donors like Dick Uihlein make clear where he really stands,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “James would be a reliable vote to roll back health care and the safety net benefits Michiganders need most right now.”
The Michigan Democratic Party launched JohnJamesRevealed.com to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. Since announcing he’d run again, just over six months after his last failed bid, James has been hiding from Michigan voters and refusing to answer questions from Michigan media.
