Weekly Update: John James Revealed By The Numbers

“John James in the past has said similar things – that he’s his own person, so on and so forth. But that’s not what we remember from 2018.” — Kyle Melinn, MIRS Podcast [5/12/20]

This week, failed politician John James was caught distancing himself from Trump in a private meeting with African American community leaders, despite publicly standing with him ‘2000%.’ James was then forced to quickly clean up the mess by doing his first newspaper interview in hundreds of days to make clear he still “supports the President.”

The episode – which came on the one year anniversary of James getting caught erasing social media posts showing his support for repealing the health care law that protects people with pre-existing conditions – is just the latest example of James being more interested in “trying to have it both ways” than being honest with Michiganders.

Among the many issues James has still refused to come clean on is whether he stands with Trump in “terminat(ing) health care” during the pandemic – even as Trump blocks a special open enrollment period to make it easier to get health care, and is leading a lawsuit that could “overturn the Affordable Care Act within a year.”

The Michigan Democratic Party launched JohnJamesRevealed.com to hold the failed U.S. Senate candidate accountable for his positions – including those made over the course of the 2018 campaign that he then tried to delete after losing that campaign. Since announcing he’d run again, just over six months after his last failed bid, James has been hiding from Michigan voters and refusing to answer questions from Michigan media.

John James took nearly $2 million in tax breaks on the condition that he would create 108 jobs — instead, he cut 32 Michigan jobs. Why did John James break his promise and lie to Michiganders?
